Bible Memorization Verses

September:
Matthew 28:18-20: "Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded You.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.' "

October:
Luke 10:27: "He answered, 'Love the Lord Your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself."

November:
Psalm 105:1-4: "Give praise to the Lord, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done.  Sing of Him, sing His praises; tell of all His wonderful acts.  Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.  Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always."

Got Dust?

“When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that they had been with Jesus.”  Acts 4:13

As New Life Church nears her 12th Anniversary since our Grand Opening Sunday, September 29, 1996, we desire to challenge each other to “grow up.”

The first few years of a church plant are about survival – “Will we make it or will we close our doors as we worship and plan week to week?”  At a certain point in time, the key question is not survival, but shape – “What will we become as we grow up?”  Year by year, we have developed as a church family and as individuals, but we all need more.  What we all need is “Dust.”

When Jesus called a motley group of diverse people together, he began their journey with him by these words of invitation – “Follow Me.”  Jesus as a rabbi was inviting people to a life of getting close to him as his disciple.  How close?  One of the blessings given to disciples was “may you be so close to your rabbi, that his dust covers you.”  That’s close.  May the dust of our Rabbi, get on us.  Are you dusty?  Got Dust?

As we begin this “Growing Year,” the overall theme of this ministry year is discipleship as defined and as illustrated by “Getting Dusty” – closer to Jesus.  Sermon series, worship songs, special events and so much more (even t-shirts) will help us focus on this 2,000 year old invitation that Jesus still expresses to us today - “Follow Me!”

We begin by a journey through our New Life Church Mission Statement – “New Life is dedicated to connecting people to God and to one another for their “New Life in Christ.”  In other words, New Life is dedicated to being people of dust.  We will journey through elements of this “dust” that transforms us from “ordinary” people to courageous disciples.  We will journey through paths that will transform us from fragmented persons to followers of Jesus.  The dust comes in various teachable moments when we get close to Jesus.

In one of those key passages Jesus indicates that through Him – with Him – we are able to be transformed and transform the world.  “I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing.  He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.  And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.”   John 14:12-13.

May this series and our “Getting Dusty” bring glory to the Father and the Son!

Get ready for life transformation and a lot of dust because disciples are under construction!
