Kingdom Kids Volunteer Information

Thank you for the time and effort you give to the kids of New Life!

Thank you to those who were able to attend the Spring Meeting on March 11.  We are always so thankful for your time and your insights!  Each meeting we walk away thinking, "Why didn't we think of that sooner!"  It is great to get together and talk and dream for the kids of God's kingdom!  Thank you!  Thank you!

If you missed the meeting, please take a few minutes to watch the videos and read the hand-outs and commentaries.  Click on the links to see the videos.

We started the meeting with a short video, "History Starts Now."  Please watch and think for a moment of the world you would like.

History starts now

Thank you for being a paint brush in the hand of our Creator as he works on these special masterpieces, our Kingdom Kids, during this very important formative years!  You are a blessing, and what you do truly matters.

We also watched "Two Things you Need to Know About Children's Ministry."  Just a word before you start:  we talked about agreeing with parts of it, but not all of it.  In particular, in the 2nd part of the video, the speaker mentions that kids "who are unlovely are not unlovely because they are unlovable but because they are unloved."  While that is true in many cases in our world, in our classrooms, most of our kids are very much loved!  And when they have those unlovely moments (as we all do!) many times it is to get our attention.  Please use it as a reminder that we don't always know what is going on in the lives of our kids each week when they come into our classrooms, but regardless, we can be a person who is happy to see them, who cares about them, and can make them feel that they matter--to us and to God.  It is also a challenge to partner with parents as we work to build relationships with kids and families!

After the video, if you would just click through the hand out below, you will have the details about the rest of the meeting--Easter, Palm Sunday, Curriculum, Emergency Drills, Step-up, Faith in Action, Etc.

Meeting Agenda for March 11, 2012

Please take a look at the survey at the end.  You can return the survey to the "M. Schnyders mailslot" or just email me your thoughts or ideas.  Thanks!

Notes from the Spring Schedule letter:

Thank you everyone for all your flexibility and all your extra help these past few months!  We really appreciate how you’ve stepped up by picking up extra classes, doing extra prep and set up, and just being really helpful in general!    Kerri has now taken over the Salvation Street lessons completely and Chrissy is back full time so you should have a return to normalcy!  Thanks for your patience!

Welcome to those of you who are joining us for the first time!  We appreciate your willingness to serve in Kingdom Kids!

This schedule includes the second Fifth Sunday of the year.  That means our regular 2nd week helpers will serve on that date—April 29.  Thanks in advance!  This will be the only scheduled extra shift for the year.

We also will be celebrating Palm Sunday and Easter in this schedule.  Both days will not follow the regular dismissal schedule.  On Easter and Palm Sunday, kids will go directly to class instead of going to service.  If you are scheduled to serve one of those days, please plan to be in your classroom 20 minutes before the start of class.  On Palm Sunday, the kids will be singing in the worship service.    On Easter, there will be special activities for the kids and they go right to class in order to make room for the extra guests we anticipate.  You will get more information as those days get closer.

Our Spring Volunteer meeting will take place on March 11 at 10:20 in the media room.  We’d like to go over a few things regarding safety procedures, background checks, and curriculum.  It shouldn’t take more than 25 minutes, but we would really appreciate it if you could attend.

We have started planning for VBS!  We will be having a steering team meeting on February 19 for anyone who would like to be involved in planning VBS.  Please join us if you want to be involved or if you just want to find out a little more information about what the steering team involves.  The meeting will take place at 10:20 in the media room.
